After introducing hybrid technology to Australia last year, Hino has now launched its 714 Hybrid light truck on the local market, along with new medium- and heavy-duty trucks and a significantly strengthened fleet plan.
The company reports it is on track to deliver 6300 vehicles this year and 8000 per annum by 2010.
Hino believes its ongoing investment in hybrid technology is benefiting its drive to develop what it describes as the ultimate in clean energy – fuel cell power. It has already begun local deliveries of the 714 Hybrid, including a fleet of 10 to TNT Express.
Hino CEO Steve Lotter describes the company’s commitment to hybrid as absolute: “Truck customers, and in many cases the end users of truck services, are seeking solutions which go beyond traditional considerations.”
